The Russian Government is considering legislative amendments to relax visa requirements for persons arriving at Russian ports onboard sport and recreational vessels.

The bill being prepared for parliamentary consideration would amend the Federal Law “on the procedure for entry to and exit from the Russian Federation” to allow the same exemption as is allowed for cruise ship passengers, permitting a stay of up to 72 hours in Russia without a visa.

In proposing the measure, the Government said it hopes that, by fostering more yacht tourism arrivals, local ports will be encouraged to improve their infrastructure and facilities.
