Services for immigrants

Informative tours of Slovenia with SIBIZ

Since October 2015, our company has been organizing informational tours in Slovenia for anyone contemplating obtaining a residence permit and trying to catch a glimpse of what life is really like here.

Selecting a country to immigrate to is a very complicated and high-stakes decision. But in reality, one can hardly make such a crucial decision guided only by the beautiful pictures in advertising catalogs or Internet articles. It’s reasonable to want to come and see everything with your own eyes first. Taking a vacation and spending one week in an area known for tourism won’t show the real life of the country either.

To get all the information you need, you’ll have to rent a car and drive to unknown places and cities. For our clients, this usually takes 2-3 weeks and assumes some hefty financial expenses, such as car rental, tolls and parking fees, staying the night in places with far from ideal prices, and much more.

That’s why we started organizing our own informational tours of Slovenia. This way, you won’t have to move from one place to another on your own trying to learn something about the “real” life in the country. We will assist you in choosing an optimal route, plane tickets and hotels, and also meet you at the airport, organize visits for anywhere you’re interested in, etc.

In just 3-5 days, you’ll be able to evaluate how people live here by visiting not just big cities, but also small villages. Get ready to see the beauty of its natural environment, learn about its climate zones and how people have adapted to them, visit schools, kindergartens, or medical and sport centers; through all this you’ll get the chance to see concrete examples of apartments that are either sold or rented, and understand the local price ranges and what they depend on. Visitors also get the chance to explore the variety of goods sold in stores, see the country’s natural and historical landmarks, and get information on residential buildings and heating technologies, public utility costs, conditions for moving, starting a business, sending children to school, and much more.

Plus, you’ll get all this information from someone who has been through all the stages of obtaining their own residence permit, and who still lives in Slovenia today.

CONDITIONS

The first contact via Skype is intended to discuss flight options, selecting proper accommodations, finding out the client’s needs, and adjusting the route and places to visit depending on them, for example, residential properties, exhibitions, schools, medical centers, malls, sports complexes, specific resorts, etc. All visits to populated areas include cities and their neighboring districts to make it easier to compare their living standards and infrastructure.

Immigration consulting package

Moving to Slovenia isn’t the most typical thing someone can do. That’s why quite naturally, there are plenty of questions related to the immigration process itself, what life is like here, as well as numerous everyday issues that need to be settled first.

The answers to many questions you may have can be found at any time on our website or on our blog. Complex and extraordinary situations with lots of individual details require professional consultations. Most often these concern issues such as the legalization of your status in Slovenia, family reunification, enrolling in a university, obtaining tax resident status, prolongation of a residence or work permit, re-registration of a vehicle or real estate acquisition. It is difficult to list each and every situation that may in reality require assistance. Every case is as unique as the person standing behind it.

If you’re facing a complicated, ambivalent or dire situation in which any improper actions may lead to serious consequences, our consultants will be happy to help and keep you safe from making a mistake. But you can also come to us with less important issues as well, such as choosing an optimal banking service package or changing a power provider for your home.

You can ask any question and get a preliminary understanding whether you truly need a consultation by emailing us at [email protected]

Learning Slovenian

If you’re interested in Slovenia, then sooner rather than later you’ll start chatting with Slovenes who speak Slovenian. Be open and prepared to communicate! That is why we developed a Skype course to learn Slovenian no matter where you are!

Description of Slovenian language courses

The program is based on specially selected material designed to develop all the core language skills: reading, listening and speaking. The focus is set squarely on the everyday language spoken by Slovenes in formal and informal circumstances, as well as on the culture and geography of Slovenia. Integrated residence and work permit prolongation

An integrated residence and work permit is a single document authorizing the right to work (which used to be a separate document) and temporarily live in the country.

Applications for the prolongation of this permit are usually submitted one month before the expiration of the current permit to the administrative department (Upravne enote) at the holder’s place of registration in Slovenia (but not later than 1 day before the expiration date). The documents are considered by the respective department in the Ministry of Labor, with the procedure sometimes lasting up to 60 days.

You can reach out to us anytime for a preliminary consultation on the following:

  • explanation of legislative requirements;
  • selecting the optimal way to prolong your integrated residence and work permit;
  • preparation of documents.

We also offer full support for the integrated permit prolongation process, which aside from just collecting the necessary documents, also includes communicating with the officials who deal with your case.

If you have any questions about the permit prolongation process, please email us at [email protected]

Prolongation of a temporary residence permit

If you live in Slovenia together with a family member, the validity period of your permit will depend on the permit validity of the “carrier,” or an employed spouse or parent, and your permits will expire at the same time as usual.

Remember that your international passport’s validity period is also important: a temporary residence permit cannot be issued for a term longer than three months before the expiration of your international passport (this requirement is not applied to children born in Slovenia).

You can apply for the prolongation of your temporary residence permit one month before the current permit’s expiration in the administrative authority (Upravna enota) at your place of registration in Slovenia (but not later than one day before the expiration date).

We provide a complete package of consulting services that includes full support for residence permit prolongation on the grounds of family reunification, namely:

  • we explain the prolongation requirements;
  • we help with the paperwork;
  • we support communications with a consultant;
  • we support the submission of documents and handle their translation;
  • we prepare amendments to the application (based on the consultant’s recommendations).

We also offer the following special consulting services:

  • translations and support throughout interviews, which in turn can be appointed by the consultant who works on your application;
  • prolongation for a new status condition (for example, reunification after employment, prolongation for an individual entrepreneur).
