This weekend (October 20-21) we invite you to visit the lovely Vitovlje village in the lower Vipava valley, where the celebration of the chestnut holiday will take place.
The village is surrounded by fields, meadows, orchards, vineyards, olive and chestnut groves. Their naturally acidified soil is an excellent basis for the cultivation of the autochthonous chestnut variety – “the Vitovlje maron”.
Every autumn, the cultural tourism society in Vitovlje village organizes this event as a part of the chestnut festival. The event traditionally takes place all weekend. It includes an entertainment program and housewives preparing delicious homemade cakes, meanwhile the place is surrounded with the smell of roasted chestnuts.
