Grosuplje, 05 December (STA) – Prime Minister Janez Janša inaugurated on Wednesday a new production facility at Grosuplje-based Belimed, a subsidiary of Swiss maker of washing-disinfecting machines and sterilization equipment. The new facility that extends over 10,000 square metres cost EUR 12.8m.
Belimed Group CEO Claus Martini said at the ribbon-cutting ceremony that the group would do everything in its power to support development at Slovenian subsidiary.
But ultimately, the success will depend on the people working at the company, he pointed out, describing the firm as a diamond in need of polishing. Belimed employs 130 people in Slovenia.
Janša underlined that good companies which create jobs and added value were in Slovenia’s national interest. He believes that it is not important whether a company was in foreign hands.
»It is important that [the company] has good and responsible owners and with Belimed this is the case,« the prime minister added and reiterated his invitation for foreign investors to come to Slovenia.
The company has received a EUR 1.5m grant from Slovenia for the project. The construction was launched in October 2011.
Matjaž Zupaničič, the boss of the Slovenian subsidiary, told the press after the ceremony that the company was planning to increase its production significantly. »We have big plans and are very optimistic about the future.«
Slovenia offers very good conditions for Belimed, he said, adding that the company would be able to »work well in the future and employ new staff, which unfortunately are scarce in Slovenia.«
Belimed decided to build the new plant due to lack of space and because they had to increase their capacities to stay on the business plan. The company has been named one of three top foreign investors in Slovenia in 2012.
