Ljubljana, 17 April (STA) – The number of skiers in Slovenia’s ski resorts increased this winter after three years of decline, rising 11% year-on-year to 1.3m on the back of a long winter abundant in snow.

Nevertheless, the Association of Ski Lift Operators said Wednesday visitor numbers would have been even higher were it not for the economic crisis and the gondola malfunction which knocked out Kanin for the better part of the season.

The final numbers will not be in for several weeks, as several resorts have enough snow and are still operating on weekends.
