Ljubljana, 28 March (STA) – Zavarovalnica Generali, the Slovenian branch of the Italian insurer, increased net profit by 33.4% to a record of EUR 2.9m in 2012. It collected a total of EUR 88m in premiums last year, down 2.2% from the year before, of which 48% were car insurance premiums, the company said Thursday.

Last year, the company had 173,984 insured persons and signed up 7,754 new clients, a 4.7% increase year-on-year.

The biggest growth was recorded in life insurances, while the area of property insurance remains stable.

A total of EUR 66.1m premiums were collected for property insurance and EUR 22.1m for life insurance.

Generali’s market share increased from 4.5% to 4.6% last year, which makes it sixth biggest insurer on the Slovenian market.
